Information-Highway.com Selects IBM to Provide Equipment to Upgrade its Network Operations Center
For Immediate Release: Seattle, WA-August 10, 1999--Information-Highway.com, Inc. (OTC BB: IHWY) announced today an aggressive expansion of its Network Operations Center (NOC) to meet the exploding growth of its Internet related businesses.
With the help of PC heavyweights IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) the upgraded NOC will provide a significant increase in network capacity and backup capabilities. The anticipated recognition of the superiority of Information-Highway.com's Internet business will result in unprecedented demand for its Dial-Up, Multicast, Voice Over IP and Web-based services.
Chief Information Officer Cristian Rodriguez said he is seeing unparalleled interest in Information-Highway.com's Internet business model. "Our upgraded NOC is the core foundation for Information-Highway's new anticipated large-scale growth into the Internet arena. We intend to make our network extremely robust to facilitate our 20-city rollout program in North America."
Information-Highway.com's industry design system engineers worked with IBM's Internet hardware and Microsoft's software to create a leading state-of-the-art facility -- slated for completion in September. IBM's powerful Netfinity series servers, running Microsoft Windows NT, will fuel the back-end of the upgraded system.
Core servers will connect to the Internet via Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) routers over OC3C fiber optic lines through communication vendors Level 3 (Nasdaq: LVLT), AT&T Canada (NYSE:T) and Bell Canada.
Along with an impressive increase in capacity, the network-wide upgrade offers enhanced reliability allowing the system to process large numbers of website and dial-up users.
Further, Information-Highway.com's agreement to license Microsoft's Commercial Internet System (MCIS) will increase its ability to provide the very best tools for maximizing time on the Internet.
Jason Roth, VP of Technical Systems of Information-Highway.com, stated, "The MCIS product will facilitate the rapid growth that we are anticipating with our Internet business model."
