Information-Highway.com Inc. Announces Plans to Launch The Executive Club Portal In Spanish
For Immediate Release: Vancouver, BC--March 23, 1999--Information-Highway.com (OTC BB: IHWY) today announced that it has made plans to enter the Latin American market by launching its Executive Club portal service in Spanish.
Information-Highway.com will translate its Executive Club (http://theexecutive.com) portal into Spanish and customize the portal for Latin American Internet Service Providers (ISP's) and Organizations.
The Executive Club will provide Latin American Internet users with national and local news from countries such as Mexico and Brazil, stock quotes from the Latin American stock markets, video news updates in Spanish, Local Weather Forecasts, Web Searches from Portals such as Starmedia, Local Yellow Pages, and Shopping including Books, CDs, DVDs, Movies, Computers, Toys, Insurance, Travel Reservations, and Housing from local Latin American e-vendors.
In addition, The Executive Club will provide forums including message boards and chat in Spanish, providing a one-stop portal and destination for communication between Internet users of the Latin American countries.
John Robertson, president & chief executive officer of Information-Highway.com stated, ``The Hispanic market in the United States is the fifth largest Spanish-speaking market in the world and the fastest growing segment in the U.S. This market accounted for more than $273 billion in aggregate buying power last year. In addition, Internet access and usage in Mexico and South America is skyrocketing. Recently, Starmedia raised some $80 million in funding to compete with America Online and Yahoo! which are attempting to enter the Spanish-speaking markets. While these large conglomerate media companies may dominate the national market, there has yet to emerge a localized portal service in Mexico or in any other Latin American country. While the largest U.S.-based localized portal provider, Citysearch, is concentrating on worldwide expansion in European countries, we believe the time is now to take advantage of our leading position and to start marketing our Executive Club portals to Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.''
